"I replayed the whole 8 Harry Potter movies in my mind, on repeat."
A few years ago, I attended a Vipassana meditation retreat. The silence rule was lifted on the 10th day for transitioning back to normal life and allowing attendees to exchange experiences.
Someone asked, "What do you think about while you meditate?" Everyone now knows: you simply can't stop thinking about stuff, even when you direct your attention to your breath, to your body sensations, or to whatever Goenka('s recording) taught, your mind drifts and you think about stuff.
An Indian guy, who said he'd attended the retreat a few times, said, "The first time I did this, I simply gave up and just replayed the whole 8 Harry Potter movies in my mind, on repeat."
Now this is the only thing I remember about that conversation. It's funny, the things one can remember or forget. I don't remember anything about what I thought about while meditating at the retreat, except that in the last few days, I could not stop swallowing and the sound of swallowing in the meditation hall was loud enough to make my neighbors start swallowing too.
